Hoosier Lottery officials created the Hoosier Lotto to replace Indiana’s ‘Lotto Cash’ in September 1994. To date, the largest Hoosier Lotto jackpots are $54 million in 2007, $34.5 million in 2011 and $34 million in 2012.

Hoosier Lotto Rules

The Indiana Hoosier Lotto is played by selecting 6 numbers out of a guess range of 1-48. 

The Hoosier Lotto is played every Wednesday and Saturday at 22:30 CST local time, and results are available at 07:30 GMT every Sunday and Thursday.

Winning the Hoosier Lotto

There are five prize categories, and to win the Hoosier Lotto jackpot players must successfully guess 6 correct numbers out of 48 . The main prize starts at a guaranteed $1 million, however, rollovers have pushed the average jackpot to reach $5.6 million.

In the event there is no jackpot winner after two draws, the jackpot increases by $500,000 per rollover until it is won. All winners have 180 days to claim their prize which can be claimed as an annuity (any structured fixed jackpot payments that are given over a specified period of time) or a lump sum (a jackpot winner’s choice to receive all winnings at once which may be less than the annuitized payment). There is a 25% federal tax on all prizes over $5,000 (set at 30% for non-US residents) and a 3.5% state tax on all prizes over $1,200.

To date, the largest Hoosier Lotto jackpots are $54 million in 2007, $34.5 million in November of 2011, $34 million in 2012, and $26 million in 1997.
